Gateway College and Embry-Riddle University join hands to offer a unique opportunity to complete the first year of an Aviation and Aerospace Degree while pursuing ALs
There is no “one-size-fits-all” in education today to meet each student’s career aspirations. Gateway College is proud to offer the largest and the most comprehensive selection of educational choices - so parents and students can choose the best education programme for academic growth and success.
In order to broad base their offerings further, Gateway College has signed up with the prestigious Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to provide their students with the opportunity of completing the first year of their undergraduate degree in cutting-edge fields that would define the future of the world, while pursuing their ALs. This, they would do by taking 3 Advanced Level subjects along with the prestigious Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Dual Enrolment Program. As such, immediately after leaving school, the students will have the opportunity to move to the second year of a Degree that will lead up to the top seat of aviation and aerospace industries in areas including aviation management, engineering and piloting.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical UniversityEmbry-Riddle has been at the forefront of ground-breaking aeronautical milestones since the early days of flight. The university’s collaborators in training and research include NASA and the US military. At present, there are over 30,000 students at Embry-Riddle pursuing accredited degree programs at associate, bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. The university has three campuses across the world: Florida, Arizona and Singapore.
The Dual Enrollment ProgramThe Embry-Riddle Dual Enrollment Program provides a unique opportunity to the students who are doing their UK or local A/Ls or those who have recently completed their A/Ls to earn University credits sufficient to complete their first year’s degree studies in a flexible manner. The program is delivered online with the support of a few workshops in Sri Lanka by the academic staff of Embry-Riddle. Additional tutorial support will be provided by Gateway Graduate School. Upon the successful completion of the program, the participants will be able to transfer to degree pathways in innovative fields such as Aeronautics and Unmanned Systems, Aeronautical Science and Piloting, Aviation Management and Engineering. Given that the Dual Enrollment Program is based on the US credit framework, the students can progress on to either Embry-Riddle’s campuses in the US/Singapore or to a range of other universities in the US, Canada and Australia.
The Key Benefits for Sri Lankan Students
The key benefits for Sri Lankan students are as follows: The wide array of degree pathways and international transfer opportunities upon successful completion, the exposure towards practical aspects of aviation and aerospace studies during the occasional workshops conducted in Sri Lanka by Embry-Riddle’s academic staff, saving almost one year’s time of higher education studies, and financial benefits as the students can earn sufficient Credits to complete a typical US degree program at a fraction of the cost in Sri Lanka. In addition to these benefits, the Dual Enrolment Program accommodates the important need for flexibility in that the courses/modules of the program can be completed at the students’ own pace. For instance, the students who pursue the program in parallel to their A/Ls or any other course can take breaks in their studies when there are school or public examinations. At the same time, the students can increase their courses/modules during their holidays.
